“Hi and welcome to the Nurture Phase. Our learners are brave, resilient and endearing young people who overcome great challenges and connect with their attuned adults, to make progress and develop skills that is meaningful and transferable in the world around them.”
Our learners in Nurture phase have a wide range of sensory processing difficulties, communication, personal care and medical care needs. We work closely with outside agencies, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, the sensory service team and Speech and Language Therapists to provide a holistic learning environment which encompasses all the learners bespoke needs. We are developing our sensory profile tracking system and we use observations as well as developmental pathways and routes for learning to track progress and next steps. We have also been part of a research project developing communication through Intensive Interaction techniques, giving weight to evidence based practice for learners with Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties.
