We offer a wide range of post 14 qualifications here at Ysgol Robert Owen at a level that is appropriate for each individual learner. The learners are assessed to find the appropriate level, and whether they will be better suited to portfolio or examined work. Then, either whole qualifications or individual units are selected that best suit the learners needs and interests. We have three specialist rooms and a specialist PE teacher that can facilitate qualifications.
We deliver ASDAN Personal Progress at Entry One for those learners who require work to be portfolio based and personalised. We can select from over 50 units to make sure the qualification is both relevant and accessible for the learners.
We can offer a full qualification at Entry One to Level One in Independent Living Skills and/or Skills for Employment, or can deliver individual units in the learners interests or requirements. This can range from Personal Hygiene, Healthy Eating or Kitchen Hygiene to Working in a Team, Participating in an Enterprise Project and Communication in the Workplace.
We use our specialist Life Skills room to deliver relevant and meaningful skills such Preparing Drinks and Snacks, Using a washing machine, Cleaning, Mopping an Sweeping. These facilities provide us with the space to develop the learners skills over a period of time and secure this learning, as well as compiling the relevant evidence for their portfolios.
Our bespoke cookery room allows us to deliver Kitchen Hygiene and Preparing a meal for others, as well as develop our learners understanding of how to safely prepare food for themselves and others.
The purpose built Design Technology suite allows us to develop design thinking within the Science and Technology area of the curriculum, but also Participating in an Enterprise Activity unit awards for both ASDAN and Agored.
